Hi all,

Can anyone help me? Im not really up to date with computer technology. Cant believe this but we've just moved into a new subdivision in Papamoa and we've been told by telecom that there's no Broadband avaliable to us. I tried Compas for wirelss but we're out of range for them too. I believe EOL can give us wireless broadband but it seems expensive compared to what other companies are offering?

Can anyone suggest anything else I can try or who I can voice my frustations to regarding the fact that we live in one of the fatest growing areas in NZ but no thought hass been given to this technology wise?

A big thanks to anyone who can help!

Hi Crisnic19

There are two major Telecom Mobile plans available
200MB Plus
• 200 included MB
• Double your usage automatically for $10 (total of 400MB)
• $29.95 plus GST 24 month Plan, $299 plus GST for the selected mobile broadband card
• $39.95 plus GST Open Term Plan, $429 plus GST for the selected mobile broadband card
1GB Plus
• 1000 included MB
• Double your usage automatically for $10 (total of 2000MB)
• $49.95 plus GST 24 month Plan, $199 plus GST for the selected mobile broadband card
• $59.95 plus GST Open Term Plan, $429 plus GST for the selected mobile broadband card

They are mainly suited to customer's who are low to medium broadband users, and no I don't belevie they are expensive, sure you will pay a premium over fixed line ADSL, but then you can take this connection and use it any where within Telecom Mobile Coverage.

If you would like, you can PM me, and I can check you address to see if you are covered (more than likely) by Telecom's EVDO (3G in simple terms) network. Otherwise just go see the guys @ Telecom in Bayfair, they should be able to help you out.

I'm in Papamoa too, just off Domain Road in Pacific Cove. When we moved here there was no DSL for the same reason. I think it's available now but I haven't bothered to check!

I was put off EOL by their pricing as well, and settled on Netsmart Wireless instead (http://www.netsmart.co.nz). Install is still at bit pricey at $500 + router, but the plans aren't too bad (e.g. 5GB/month fo $50).

Give me a shout if you want any more info :-)

I also live in Papamoa (During uni holidays anyway) and we have got broadband with Ihug, we are in Palm Beach and it is all sweet. I thought in a new sub-division there will be broadband, sorta stupid tbh.

you'd think so wouldn't ya - but guess what the last thing a developer thinks off when they're putting in a new subdivision? Phonelines! And it happens every month.....

Thx everyone for your help and input - looks like we're going with EOL. Theyve got good wireless coverage in Papamoa - a little expensive to set up (around $500) but thats installation and router. Plan not too bad either. So once again thx evryone, really apprciate it.
