Running a new length of cat5e from the soon to be installed filter to a new jack point. Does it matter if I use a RJ12 or a RJ45? I've heard differing opinions on what to use as the wall jack.

Chorus use RJ45, but i guess it just depends on what cable you have to go to your modem :)

My modem end is RJ11

Use an RJ45.

An RJ45 will take both RJ45 and RJ11. An RJ11 point will only take an RJ11.

the pins in the plug are essentially the same, the cable is essentially the same. so i doubt it will make much of a difference.

More annoying questions:

1) Is there anywhere I can buy an ETP set up for a master filter? Seen some with a little thing on the top that is bigger? (mine is really small and is a squish to get all the wires above it)
2) When punching down the before mentioned/linked wall jack, if I connect the master filter to the orange pair of of the cat5e cable do I still punch all colours in to the jack or only the orange pair?

I've installed the splitter and have it going to an unused jackpoint at the moment as the length of cat5e I used I'm assuming has broken/degraded (that's what I get for using an old cable). Will buy a new length tomorrow!

Have been instructed to only punch down the pair im using from the splitter to the blue + blue/white spots in the jack
