I'm having some trouble with my internet at home with a DLink DSL-604T router. Basically as far as I can tell it just stopped being able to connect to the internet one day and I can't really work out why. I can still connect to it through the web interface and i've checked the log...after all the initialisation stuff it says "DSL carrier is down" then repeats "DSL carrier is training" and "manager_find_defaults - !mod" over and over indefinately. The adsl status page shows 0 for SNR margin etc so as far as I can tell there is no connection. I have looked at a few things on line and they mentioned it might be a DNS problem so I have tried setting the DNS servers manually in DHCP etc but it didn't seem to help. If anyone has any idea it would be greatly appreciated.

Have you called your ISP helpdesk? It sounds like your DSL could be down. If you have or can borrow another modem, do that to double check too.

i have a 604t and i find it very unstable, one fix that can help if you a decent bit away from the exchange (like me :)) then its best to set the mode to adsl(multimode) this stabilises it a bit but it dose have the possibility of performing slower if you are already working at higher speeds, a few weeks after sitting it on that mode it should become stable

personally i have decided that they are useless and I'm gona turn it into a wireless AP and i have a cisco 827 that I'm gona use for the connection :)

Sadly the DSL-G604T is a big bag of poo! :-(  I had no end of "fun" with mine.

What you can try to get it reconnecting again, is to do a factory reset and then follow the setup wizard again .. worked with me whenever mine went stupid.  Just remember to have your login details handy before you blow it away.

To factory reset, hold the reset pin in for 10 seconds and wait for it to finish doing it;s thing .. manual has it detailed.

My permanent fix was to get a Netgear DG834N .. still not 100% but still leagues ahead of Dlink.

Regards

Mark
