Hi All, can anyone offer suggestions here.....

We finally got connected to 2Degrees VDSL yesterday but I have very slow down and up stream speeds and all the attenuation! (see stats below)

We have recently moved to a new address in Mt Eden, Auckland and was getting 70mbs+ down at our previous address in Sandringham, Auckland, with the same modem.

Nearest cabinet doesn't seem all that far away, 500m or so.

I have isolated the connection by cabling direct from demarcation to modem (bypassing all internal house wiring) but it made no difference to the performance I'm getting when using the internal phone wiring.

Router is Netcomm NF8AC.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

nothing looks too bad about those stats to indicate there is a fault honestly..

it looks like simply a long line, you may find the physical copper goes up the street and back again to get to the cabinet.

Hi, as Troy says, it could be a long line, but it also could be a missing leg, between you and the cabinet, have you tried putting your or neighbours addresses into the Chorus site, as it will report what sync rates they are getting assuming they are on VDSL

I had an exact example of this at a property in takapuna. The cabinet was at my driveway inside the road facing boundary lines. The cable ran down the street to the corner and then back again. It was not new copper line either.

Also thanks to the OP for posting the required info without being asked.

31db snr down is not too bad but could yield those results. How many days since move in? Was it the exact same for the entire time?

Thanks for the replies everyone, most appreciated.

Plugging other addresses on our street into the Chorus site returns a mix of predicted VDSL speeds similar to ours (15mbs ish)and others that only have an ADSL option.

Have been at this address for 6 weeks. Was using Bigpipe ADSL initially but it was giving down speeds of 8mbs at best and unusably slow at worst. Thought I'd try VDSL but had to switch to 2deg to get it at this address.

2 Deg activation was Monday of this week (7/01).

Pants eh, looks like I'm stuck with this until fibre arrives mid 2019.... unless there is something else I could try?

Thank again, MJ

If you're happy to message me your actual address, I'll look into this a little further. I've done lots of work on xDSL lines for Geekzone members, so can predict fairly well if somethings not as good as it should be.

Yeah in that case be stoked with 15Mb/s VDSL over 8Mb/s ADSL.
