This is what I have in my latest “monthly scorecard” from SamKnows

What do others see?

That's not flash. Are you on a Gig plan, and what do you see from your own speedtests?

ABPH011 if you're on a gig plan gaddman says you've got issues, If you're a 100Mb plan they look pretty normal.

It says hes on the gig plan - far left of his report card

Believe it or not that result for Spark is totally normal, The SamKnows report card we get sent is showing local traffic results only.

Due to Sparks peering / non-peering to REANNZ that is the speed result to the NZ test server which most likely is going overseas then back again. Its not a true indication of the speeds in general you are going to get to most sites/area's in NZ,

But it is a true indication of what you are getting to REANNZ server for now. You are better to split the results when checking the download speeds and ignore the local speed for spark as it does perform much better then it shows, I have attached a split shot of some SamKnows results.

Below is just one persons results so take it with a grain of salt,

Here she is;

The clear spike is when I turned on hardware acceleration on the router.

Does Spark not peer with REANNZ at all?! I would of thought they had something hooked up for the N4L connections, I guess it could be just for them, and not the consumer network.

This is my connection on 1Gbps 2degrees:

Remember the "Package" is what the user tells SamKnows, this not validated. The OP should check that his ISP account is really on a Gigabit plan.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Looks like a new monthly report since I found it in my email before.
2degrees - 1Gbps

Seems to have the wrong package? How does one change that?

An excellent balanced post there... A small clarification though. It's ONLY a true indication of the speed for Spark customers _Currently_ to the REANNZ network located servers. Any OTHER traffic bouncing via Australia will have much much much better performance. It's an artificial limit external to the Spark network and NOT related to what you would expect if traffic had to bounce via Aussie.

As above, split the results and have a look for yourselves.

Cheers - N

Not yet. We're always evaluating the best bang for buck network upgrades though.

My monthly report on a 100 plan with Vodafone. Interesting min and max are so close together.

Interesting to see the others.

My Spark account is already cancelled and I am moving to Stuff at the end of the month.

Will post an update.

(And yes, both my bill ( :-) ) and Spark support’s assurances are that I am
In fact on Gig.)

Sad to see you go. I hope you didn't base the decision on this Samknows report card. It's grossly misleading.

Cheers - N
