Curious question, I have recently purchased an EdgeRouter-4 (https://www.ui.com/edgemax/edgerouter-4/) which has 1 SFP port.

Do you think Enable would be capable of replacing their ONT and using the ER-4 via SFP given the appropriate SLID/GPON configuration?

Unless Enable are prepared to give you a SFP ONT (which I highly doubt) then there is no chance.

You would need to know someone very well within Enable that is prepared to do it, as Chorus only offer SFP ONTs for Bitstream 4 products (top end business plan with SLAs attached) in very specific use cases.

I have friends at Chorus, but our neighborhood is managed by Enable - I'll have a chat with them :)

I don't believe it is possible but would be very interested if it was. I'm also with enable and have an ER-X SFP. Would love to get rid of the ONT, gain some space in the cabinet and a power socket back!

We (Chorus) only provide an SFP ONT with specific SFP service offers.
The SFP Bitstream services are Bitstream 3 and 3a based, not Bitstream 2 residential offers.

Also, our SFP ONT won’t work on the Enable network, at least not in a supported way.
