Howdy folks,

I'm thinking of getting a Playstation3 and just wondering if it's possible to configure the Playstation3 to use the Woosh Wireless modem? I've got the Woosh modem plugged into a Linksys SD2005 Gigabit switch via network cable, which my computers then plug into - is it just a case of plugging the Playstation into the switch and then configuring the Playstation? I'm not interested in the online gaming aspect (I figure the Woosh connection would be pretty useless for that), but more the Updates and, I understand, WipeoutHD is only going to be available as an online purchase. Any thoughts and/or issues people have had with Playstation3 on Woosh would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

To be brutally honest there Wiseacre, doing any online gaming via Woosh's UMTS network is hopeless. I have known people to try online gaming with 360Live and also PC based gaming only to get frustrated with the lack of performance.

Even with a strong signal and a delta in the 15-18+ area, the minimum return was still about 270ms which is still far too laggy for efficient online gaming.

Unless the PS3 is capable of setting up the session using PPPoE (Point To Point Protocol over Ethernet) then you'll need a router that supports PPPoE (don't buy an ADSL router like a lot of people do and wonder why it doesn't work!). Woosh sell the Netgear variety which is provisioned with their own firmware for use with the Woosh UMTS modems.

Yeah, not interested in online gaming.
Set it up via PPPoE settings, works fine.
