Hi All,

Just wondering someone told me that if you have a FS UP FS DOWN ADSL(ADSL2+) plan it would be faster.

What i mean is for example

Full Down Speed and 128kbps upload does that actually effect your download speed.

Opposed to FS up and Down.

Yes - there is a difference.

FS/128k restricts download to around 4mbps - http://www.telecom.co.nz/speed has some basic descriptions about it.

Yup, 128k upload rate tops your download rate at approx 4.5mbps.

If youre wondering why, basically for the data youre downloading, your system has to send back information to confirm it arrived, so the faster youre downloading, the faster its got to send info back, and when youre limited at 128k, it soon hits the limit. Thats the basic reason anyway.... probably is more technical explanations out there etc but its one...

So FS both ways, gives a nicer pipe to fire back information with.

I was surprised when I learnt of this recentlly (also from Geekzone), it encouraged me to switch plans (and providers). I was getting 5000kbps and 128kbps on Sunday and on Monday I got 14000kbps and 860kbps once I changed. A big improvement which is one of the benefits I was hoping for when moving to the new plan. Well worth upgrading to a FS/FS plan.
