Im noticing that ive had a very low p2p speed in the past few days

I have been getting ~300kB/s but now i have approx. less than 50kB/s

Im on go large, soon to swap to big time cos its closing down.

Will my p2p be better on big time when i swap?

Anyone else in my same position?

p2p on big time any good?

I think you will find this is because it has been wet throughout the country more people have been staying home on the internet, hence traffic prioritisation comes in with Big Time and Go Large being pushed down the que.

I experianced the speed drop but it seems to be back to normal now.

Anyways, another reason for p2p being more overloaded than usual may be that some popular TV shows have started new seasons.

Apparently since Big Time launched Go Large and Big Time have been managed by the same rules and hardware. So there shouldn't be much difference other than the faster upload on Big Time and the ability to get interleaving turned off.

Hi there

I would LOVE to have 50kb/s - mine is a piddly 3kb/s if I'm lucky and I am on the Go Large plan! It has never been better than maybe 30kb/s.

I live in Rotorua so maybe that explains the slower speed?

It is just so depressing when my American cousins can download an entire movie in ten minutes.

So, tonight I flick on to Vuze in the vein hope this is going to cure my torrent issues - figured maybe Telecom had done 'something' to UTorrent but nope - crap crap crap. I investigate further ... something about ports and forwarding and NAT.

I need a geek - STAT. *grin*

Sorry to be a wet blanket but ....

P2P is aggressively shaped by design. If its slower now, then the best you can probably do is have fond memories of when it was better ....

My big time is a dog, forget p2p, forget downloads, forget software updates, forget gaming. Does anyone have access to Epitiro to get the latest online stats to tell us who the best perfoming ISP is??

I couldn't handle the slow speed any longer - changed to the Adventure Plan (woohoo), it is only 20gig but at least it is unmanaged. :)

Don't believe for one minute that xtra's new Big Time plan gets any faster after 2a.m. Before I switched from Go Large I noticed a big drop in P2P speed. I have recently tested a 88mb file download at 5a.m. and it averaged 12 to 13KB/S. The file finished downloading at just after 7a.m. I used to get 100KB/S anytime and if 3 similar files were downloaded at the same time I got around 300KB/S.

Well I'm getting ~300 KB/s right now on a download via Bit Torrent and it's 2.30am unlike before 2am when it was "capped" to under 180 KB/s

Steam was also downloading the Left 4 Dead 2 Demo earlier at around 80-100 KB/s in peak time, so perhaps it's something to do with the source you are downloading from?

I got 800KB/s this morning on Utorrent because I was using the encryption but downloading through the likes of rapidshare and megaupload is stuffed

i have a way to download from rapidshare at full speed. i used to get at max (using a download manager) 200kb/s. i found a way to increase that from 200 to 1mb/s. i dont know if im allowed to post the site to the tutorial on how to get these speeds so if an admin can post here or some how get in contact with me, i will show it to them and either have them post it or i'll post it after they looked it over. just hoping telecom dont catch on and throttle this method of downloading from rapidshare.
