my one is telecom big time unlimited
but i am using bt all the time
i need one with no traffice caps between time to time
so i can bting all the time
can hold on to one night for 8g of data
it's way to slow out here
i want it to be faster

There are no other options out there for you.

You want unlimited downloads and fast torrents. The two are incompatible.

Yeah Slingshot has unlimited free downloads during Off Peak (1-7am) so if you have a good download client you can set it to timer and it will download it like that.

As sbiddle posted you can get unlimited but it will be "managed", that is not fast. Telecom Big Time seems to work fine too.

Slingshot has free data between 1am and 7am but it is throttled and when I was using it, the throttling and shaping was far worse than Big Time.

Also the most important benefit of big time is that you can start you torrent client and let it run anytime, on slingshot you will have to schedule your downloads and after doing that for 3 months it get very very very tedious.

rumours have it slingshot will be coming out with an unlimited plan as well, but I expect this will be throttled and shaped far worse than the free data between 1am and 7am.

I think if it was absolutely essential, ordering a business level service delivered over something other than DSL (eg UNS/HSNS/Fibre) would be cheaper than moving country. The costs would be high, but it's not cheap to move countries either. :)

If you want high performance then data capped plans are the reality in New Zealand (also Australia). This is because of a number of factors for example: low population density, geographic isolation, small scale ISP's that don't have high enough customer numbers to have good leverage when buying hardware and data transit.

Big Time's traffic management still needs a lot of the kinks worked out but I don't think Telecom have implemented their general http caching for the masses yet. That should have a big imapct if and when it comes online.

Doesn't Xnet do something like this as well? Last I heard it was 75GB/mo off-peak no matter what plan you're on.

So what do you require 8GB of data per evening for?

One can only presume it's for torrenting of copyrighted material. If it is do you not only expect the material you are downloading to be free but the internet service to your house to be essentially free as well?

Sorry for the trolling post but that last paragraph says it all really, and can be used in so many situations. I might start to use your line for free myself :)
