Is there any out there using Netsmart who might be able to help me.I have been with them since last October, and have been satisfied with the connection. However, over the last few weeks,I have found it impossible to get good results from Skype.Speed tests show that I am only getting an upload of 120Kb/s on average. The plan I am on states "up to 256 Kb/s",and Netsmart seem to think that 120 average is acceptable.Do other people find they only get 50% of what they pay for?
If you are paying for "up to" 256kbps, you cannot claim that you are getting 50% of what you are paying for. You are actually paying for whatever is available, up to the maximum possible, and it varies by location as well as ISP and time of day.
Actually 120kbps should be plenty for Skype, but it won't be a constant speed so that can cause issues. Also check what other applications you have that may be sending upstream traffic as well, usually its P2P programs like Bittorrent that make the connection laggy.
