Worldnet and Slingshot Unlimited Plans?

Hey guys,

Just joined up here so bear with me for awhile. (Apologies if I posted this in the wrong section)

Was previously on Big Time and as you all know its been shut down. On the pro plan at the moment but am considering a move to either slingshots unlimited plan or worldnets one.

Never really heard much about worldnet so was hoping for some opinions on them in general and more specifically there unlimted plan!

Only ever head bad things about slingshot but is anyone on their unlimited plan yet and would be keen to share their experiences/speeds etc so far?

World net Cheap and nasty They absolutly throttle it at night so if you are trying to download one torrent the whole internt comes to a grinding holt I guess its the old bait and switch i will soon change over to there limited plans with the hope of higher speeds and the reputed bad helpline is just that however when you do get somone they are helpful but i guess its just some college kid on 20 an hour to put up with crap

DO NOT TOUCH world net, absolutely horrible speeds on their unlimited plan. Even for normal websites.

IMO Slingshot will do the unlimited plan right and you will have good speeds (Not as fast as capped plan, But not dial speeds).

They have already got unlimited offpeak in place which seems to run well so they SHOULD be able to manage a full unlimited plan. Either way Ive signed over to them, so I guess I will find out how good it is.

Thanks man, I guess I will check them out. I will report back with a review after the first week.

Telecom has waived the term contract for people on Big Time as they are closing down the plan.

Hi I was on Telecom's Big Time as well and saw worldent ad and changed it to their unlimited plan which I deeply regret. It seems like they are managing the traffic 24/7. P2P file sharing speed is less than 60kb/s during the off peak hours even web browsing speed during the day is less than impressive. Guess I was expecting and can accept the fact that it's slow speed during the day but average downloading speed of 60kb/s during the off peak hours? unacceptable. So I called up the worldnet customer service and they asked me to do some ping test when I experince slow internet speed during the peak hours around 6~8 pm. And this is response I got about the off peak hour speed, the guys said "this plan is not suitable for downloading anything really". The reason people subscribe unlimited plan is eventhough they have to bear with slow internet speed during the day is because they can download stuff during the off peak hours without worrying about data cap. Worlnet is advertising the plan as full speed upload and download http://www.worldnet.co.nz/personal/dsl/?menu=price#dslplan please i need help and advise how to deal with this problem. How can I make them listen to me? what kind of actions can I take if they don't. or is changing ISP the best way?

It was a 50 50 chance slingshot or worldnet I also took worldnet they are without a doubt the worse provider i have ever been with I wish i had th etime or money to sue them for misrepresenting a service I have lost so much time over the last week and although when you finally get to talk to there service guys they are great and helpful they cant really help

Not dialup speeds on Slingshot? Barely.

Been getting ~20kBps for regular HTTP downloads, Megaupload, Rapidshare, etc become useless if you start a torrent, and Youtube is pretty much unwatchable on anything but the lowest quality (where their cache may kick in)

Over the last day, I've started to notice that largish (think ~500kB) images take a long time to load (would take a couple of BT, takes six or seven on this plan)

whatever you choose, don't touch worldnet.
Lots of people are willing to pay ETF to get out of their contract with worldnet.

I have been with the all you can eat plan from slingshot for about a week now and have had now problem with gaming, p2p, ftp or browsing.
The p2p runs at around 150-700kbs depending on the torrent and time of the day.
I live in the Queenstown lakes district but I am unsure if that has anything to do with it or not. I am extremely happy with the service.

I seem to get ~30kBps to ~150kBps on non-cached torrents (cached torrents vary greatly from 20kBps to ~700kBps)

The problem I have is with some HTTP downloads and other services seem to be linked to other types of traffic. ie: start a torrents, kill an already slow (~20kBps) Megaupload download or a connection to an MMO server
