Hi all, I am currently with Orcon plat+ (older plan with 25gb)

I love Orcon's speed! However this is costing me around 170+ a month because I usually go over the limit by around 10gb and additional $30ish for calls.

I want something cheaper but also fast and reliable with atleast 25gb of data as my household regularly stream videos and game.

So who are your providers and do they fit these requirements?

Any input would be appreciate it :)

May not be the absolute cheapest, but Xtra has always been reliable and consistent performers. I am happy to pay a bit extra for that, and for at least some customer service when needed.

I agree with Johnr...you get what you pay for.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Haha yes it would seem that fast, reliable and cheap doesn't go well in the same sentence. I was looking at going back to TCNZ, they seem to be more friendly than before.

Hmm $30 on calling, is this to mobile or landlines in other regions/overseas or both? What's the rough breakdown in minutes?

It's really going to depend on who/what you are calling, you can probably quickly compare to the Telecom options here:

If you are mostly calling the same landlines Total Home Broadband 40GB with a couple of nominated numbers addons might work out cheapest, or if it's a variety of mobile/landlines Total Home 30GB + some suitable calling addons.

Other option is naked ADSL (no landline), several ISP's are offering great naked pricing particularly Snap with their new pricing. Then use Xnet or 2talk for a voip service.

However you need a bit of tech savvy to run a voip service, so I wouldn't recommend it to a non geek tbh.

Snap Naked ADSL 30GB would cost you $80 and Xnet VFX would cost you $11.95, voip has much lower calling rates than most landline services see here http://www.xnet.co.nz/vfx/ and here http://www.snap.net.nz/home/package/naked

I pay around $160 a month on telecom, gives me 60gig data, free national calling (and i think aussie too).

Im reasonably tech savvy as I used to work for Xnet and Orcon.. However other people in the household are not. I also need several different phones around the house so that is also a problem for naked DSL and voip.
We make calls internationally and occasionally to mobiles. I think I might go for the Telecom's total home 40GB :)

Best reliability & speed.

Telecom all the way imo.

Go for the Total Home 40G plan or something. * Someone has already linked it, so I wont bother :D

I thought it was reliable, cheap and good customer service don't all go in the same sentence, and you pick 2 out of the 3. Fast and reliable are usually in the same category, in terms of the performance of the connection.
