Hello guys,

I am currently with SlingShot. I have been with them for a couple of years now.

Recently i have noticed that they are offering new BB Plan.

Currently i am paying $46 for 15GB of data without phone line. Right now, i can take advantage of their promotion and switch to 50GB plan and save $1 (i.e. $45/month).

My question is,

1. Will there be any 'down time' if i switch plan? (Note that i am not switching ISP, i am simply switching plan)

2. Is there anything that i should be aware of? It seems that the new promotion is 'too good to be true'? (I am not technical minded)

I have called SlingShot, and i have been advised that there will not be any down time, but my position is that i really would like to make sure, hence this post.

Thanks everyone, your time is much appreciated.

shouldn't be any down time.

bear in mind that your old plan probably included free offpeak data and the new ones do not.

As this is just a billing change for the ISP, you should not notice anything from a user perspective.
You'll only see it on the bill.

I currently don't see the offer on their site that you're talking about, so I can't look at the details for you.

Yes, be aware of peak/off-peak times. Also, will this be a lock in for the next 12 or 24 months? I also see that they add on $10 if you don't have a home line with them.

As always, read the T&Cs.

Hello guys,

An update.

I have requested the change on Fri evening, i am surprised to find that it is now in affect.

And to confirm, there was no down time as suggested. (Quite happy about that)

@ICI

If you go to SlingShot website, go to the 'BoardBand' tab. Currently they are offering (to new customers only) the same plan for half price (i.e. $20/month for 50GB) for the first 6 months.

The remaining 6 months will be charged at $40/month. Subject to a 12 months contract.

As i have been a SS customer for the past 5 years i do not need to enter into a new contract (which is very nice i guess).

I have priced around, and i think that this promotion is the best value out there. But then i guess Vodafone's and Telecom's website only offer prices for BoardBand AND Landline which makes it difficult to compare.

Anyway, cheers guys.
