Hello, I'm kinda in a pickle here.
For a while now my computer has suddenly frozen, along with a loud buzzing sound from the speakers.
I happens regularly, about every hour and a half, sometimes less, sometimes more.

So I contacted tech support for my computer (Digital Storm), and they said that I should reset my BIOS, because it might be the overclocking.

Well the thing is that my computer actually skips the BIOS splash screen. I only see a black screen until I log into the OS. (Tried with a lower rez monitor, same story)

I looked up my motherboard, and it said that the BIOS setup key is "Del", so I keep pressing it when I turn on the computer, the result is only an eternal black screen, no log in to the OS or anything. I have to kill the computer, and start again.

I would really appreciate the help. :D

Here are my specs:
Processor: Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 990X 3.46 GHz (6 core)
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Extreme (Intel X58 Chipset)
Sound Card: Integrated with Motherboard
Windows 7 64 bit

Hold down the delete key, then start the machine.

If that fails you could use the bios reset jumper on the motherboard if you are confident about that but best check with your tech support to make sure they are happy with opening the box.

Hey, I'm stuck now. Dug myself into an even deeper hole, I set it to always boot to safe mode.
Now I just see an eternal black screen whenever I start the computer.

Nothing. Just black, no setup, no nothing.
Will reseting the BIOS from the mother board fix it?

Try using the jumper or pulling the battery. Not sure if it works on modern boards, but it used to.

If it is under warranty, take it to the store.

On my very quick look at the manual yesterday I saw a facility to reset the bios using an external switch. The switch function was configurable so it may not perform that function all the time unless it is set up that way.

After looking around my motherboard, I found a big button which says "Reset".
I think that's it.

The only worry that I have now is that, once I reset my BIOS how can I set it up again if my computer doesn't want to show anything other than my OS. It just shows a black screen in the bios setup, and in safe mode.

(I want to quickly thank you guys for helping me, I appreciate it to the creepy extreme. :D )

EDIT: I'm typing this from my phone BTW. As my computer is kaput. XD

How much did you need to set up in your bios to get your machine working after you bought it?

Reset will set safe defaults and will include auto detecting drives etc. Usually everything will just work. If you set a custom boot order yourself I guess this will be changed to a default as well.

If you cannot enter the bios or nothing is displayed in bios setup - then that is a problem you should get resolved so nothing to lose on that score.

You mentioned later your computer does not finish booting in safe mode. That is a different problem. I suggest following the path the support people advised then contact them for the next step and see what they advise after that.

OK. I seem to have fixed the BIOS splashscreen thing.
Turn out that the PCI-E was turned off for the vidocard that my DVI was plugged into.

But I still get the crashes, but now it crashes every ten minutes... -.-
I'm gonna try and reset the BIOS now.
