My MSN software has irrationally become disabled on my machine weeks ago after this update installation to the latest version of MSN. When I tried to connect it, the message would pop up saying I have no internet connection while my connection was absolutely up. I've been uninstalling and reinstalling the software but the set-up process always takes so long and after a long wait the same message would pop up saying, "No Internet Connection." So, at the moment I have not MSN software installed to my machine since it won't allow me. I let my IT friend at work look at the problem and all he said is I lost the cache files which I'm having a difficulty trying to draw the connection between MSN and cache files (I thought that cache stores a snapshot of an online resrouce, no?). Do cache files in this place mean something a little more complex than a low tech person like to me to understand?

Has anyone encountered the same problem before? Would be appreciated for any help in advance. Thank you.

PS. my firewall isn't blocking MSN anyhow and I did all the work that might solve the problem yet the it still persists.

Can you double-check this? It certainly sounds like the problem to me.

Also, make sure you are using the official download from the Messenger Live site. I know a few daysago a beta verswion leaked but don't use that - it's not official and you don't know if it's a good version of not.

Check your PC's date and time, and check that it is configured to use the correct timezone. Time differences make strange things happen with connections to the Messenger servers.

Thank you, all. I even left my firewall turned on during the set-up process just to make sure it wasn't blocking MSN. I have the software disc with me so that's the source I use to install my MSN Explorer.

Any more ideas?

To make it clearer; when I say MSN, it's MSN Explorer though not Messenger. Thanks again.

Hmmm. Any reasons to use MSN Explorer instead of Internet Explorer or any other browser? What OS are you using, it seems MSN Explorer only works with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME and Windows 2000...
