Hello!

I was wondering as I'm building a budget gaming/work pc build ($600.00 budget).
Does anyone know any good sales and companies that offer cheap yet reliable PC parts? (i.e. Black Friday and Boxing day?)

Thanks!
(ALSO: Does anyone have the R7 250 OC or R7 260X and had good experience?)

Will be interesting to see what you come up with. $600 would barely buy me a video card for a gaming PC :)

if you are starting with nothing, then $600 wont get you very far.

if you have some spare parts like a case, psu, hdd, then you can put motherboard, cpu, gfx, ssd, ram for $600 and have a pretty good machine (I would upgrade the gfx when you could to a $350ish card, gtx 960).

whenever I've looked at buying parts from overseas the shipping plus the GST always made them out to be about the same price, or barely cheaper the extra effort to save $20 vs local warranty just wasnt worth it.

now's not the time to be buying a new nvidia gfx card though with the next generation coming out soon.

For $600 you need to go 2nd hand.

Increase Budget to 1500-2500 for brand new.

I think it is possible with the budget. Mine cost $680 for the following mix of new and second hand:

Gigabyte ga-f2a88xm-hd3 -new
AMD A8 7600 - new
2x4GB Kingston Hyper 2400mhz RAM - second
Sandisk 128gb ssd - new
WD 3Tb Green hdd -new
Pinnacle 7010i Tri Tuner -second
HP IR Receiver -new
Corsair 650 PSU - second
Silverstone LC17 with dvd drive -second

I don't have a graphics card but it does play bf4, albeit low quality.

You're really buying at the wrong time as well. Six months ago the NZ dollar was much stronger and you could get so much more for a NZ dollar. The NZ dollar has weakened a lot at the moment, and all imports cost a lot more. I can't see the situation changing this side of Christmas.

I have a secondary rig that you can use for gaming if you are interested:
Core i3 3220
GSkill Rip Jaw 8GB DDR3
2TB HDD
AMD 7770 GPU
FSP 80Plus Gold PSU
Wifi card
all in a mATX case ready to go.

I was using it as a secondary gaming PC (in the lounge) to play Fifa and Injustice - but then I went and got a PS4 so this has now become redundant.

Yep was thinking an AMD A10 or similar with built in GPU. Won't be high qual graphics, but mine still managed latest wolfenstein at 1920x1080 without too much issue.

Oh and going back to the original question. I spent around 6 months planning my build and didn't ever see a specific date when items were cheaper.

My tip would be to get a rough idea of the parts you want, then keep visiting here, and also set up email reminders on pricespy and trademe.
