Currently in need of a PC that will be able to run current games at 60+ fps at 1080p, and possibly 1440p later on down the line. I'm trying to keep my budget under $1900 if I can as I still need a monitor.

Would ideally like to have 16gb RAM and an SSD and all of that good stuff but i'm not exactly great with knowing what will perform best and what I should put my money towards (first PC, needing expert advice).

I'll include pics of prebuilt PC's I've found, but if anyone could give any tips/advice on what I should do/what parts i'll need then it would all be much appreciated!

Check out Playtech.co.nz and Computer Lounge - both offer decent pre-built systems, and are happy to discuss with you what you want it for etc.

The new AMD Ryzen chips are looking good bang for the $$, the 5 series were just launched today. For $600 odd you can get a basic ASUS board/ Ryzen 1500 cpu/ 16 GB RAM, leaving plenty of your budget for the other bits. Throw in a decent GPU and I think you'd be happy for a while.

Oh, and AVOID TradeMe - I always find the "stores" that sell via TM, are usually extremely overpriced.

Awesome thank you! I don't suppose you know much about 1stwave.co.nz? They also seem to have pretty decent systems for a good price but I want to trust where i'm spending my money obviously.

yep and you are normally getting the previous generation CPU etc for the same money you could get the current generation one for

I currently have an Acer Aspire v15 Nitro (gaming laptop, big mistake as it's struggling a lot).

A bargain is a bargain wherever you get it so I wouldn't avoid Trade Me just because some stores are overpriced. If you are knowledgeable, have the cash and can be patient then you can get very good deals, e.g. these within two weeks of looking:

Full HD 15" laptop with 2GB graphics suitable for most games for $600. It was ex-display with a broken case - half the price of any equivalent but hasn't skipped a beat.
We got a hardly used $3,800 Alienware 17" laptop - it had spent most of a year in storage - for $1,800. It was immaculate. Next nearest price for any equivalent used or new was $2,500.

You will probably get a super mixed set of replies here.

Chat to the folks at Computer Lounge, people who build gaming machines on a daily basis.

Tell them your needs and your budget and they will sort you out.

They also have regular 8%-10% component sales.

And yes, numerous opinions on so many different components which is making this process a lot harder than it needs to be I think.

If you're not confident with PC parts and you're keen to have one warranty with one point of contact, Computer Lounge is the go if you're in Auckland, or else find someone local and reputable nearby you, of which I'm unfamiliar being in the Waikato.

Don't buy an I5 a Ryzen 5 6 core will cost you basically the same it will perform better than an overclocked quadcore i7 in productivity and game streaming, around the same as the i5 in gaming for average FPS but have better frametimes .1% and 1% lows, it has a better upgrade path, can overclocked on cheaper motherboards and the stock cooler is not terrible so you can use it even when overclocking.

Go for a large SSD rather than an SSD and HDD.

Don't cheap out on the power supply FSP one of the better brands at the low end of the market.

The GTX1060 and RX480 are similar in terms of performance go with whatever one is cheaper.

This is what I would go for in your position.

1060 and 480 in their 6 and 8gb forms respectively trade blows. Either is fine, and the 480 by and large seems to pair off better with the ryzen chips, and brand unity is a nice bonus

That's just using pricespy.co.nz but as others have said check reviews on the stores before you buy some are much better at customer service than others :)

Between the 480 and the 1060 not really as toejam said I would go for the 6 and 8gb versions however not the 3gb or 4gb versions.
