Hi [my real name was here],

A new account has been created for you at 'Cyberwise'
and you have been issued with a new temporary password.

Your current login information is now:
username: [my primary email was used here]
password: G?A0&LV,_1.nKF
(you will have to change your password
when you login for the first time)

To start using 'Cyberwise', login at
https://cyberwise.aurainfosec.com/login/?lang=en

In most mail programs, this should appear as a blue link
which you can just click on. If that doesn't work,
then cut and paste the address into the address
line at the top of your web browser window.

Cheers from the 'Cyberwise' administrator,

Admin User

This is reasonably clever on what I presume is the premise to hopefully catch passwords people use over and over again.

Well, no, not 100% sure, however, I have never had anything to do with this site, nor did I ask for an account.

Someone has tried to sign up and accidentally/on purpose used your email address?
Agree it's a little odd though....

My email address is pretty unlikely to be accidentially used. It's tied to my business.

(Apologies if you run your own small business.)

I've seen these sorts of things a few times pop into my Inbox in various jobs.

Turns out a Manager or an IT person etc has signed up everyone for a new service/product ra ra without telling anyone.

Possible?

See https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=205468 🙂

It's not Gmail.

You wouldn't accidentally get my email address :)

Doesn't appear so in this instance.

Aurainfosec is a legit security company owned by Kordia, assuming the link actually goes to their domain, this may be legit?

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.
