Today when I tried to record a game of Warcraft 3 and Starcraft using Fraps and Xfire, my FPS drops to around 10 FPS in both games while recording.

A month ago I recorded some Warcraft 3 and Starcraft games using Xfire/Fraps and my FPS was 55+.

In game settings have not been changed.

When I click on WMV files in My Videos folder, my computer freezes for 10 seconds and if I try and move the folder around my screen or tab to other pages during that time, my computer makes a beeping sound. This does not happen with other video files.

Xfire and Fraps both save the video file as a WMV.

Any know what the problem is?

If you need more information, let me know.

Thanks! :D

System
GFX: GeForce 8600 GT
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz @ 2406MHz
MEM: 3072MB DDR2
OS: XP home

UPDATE: I fixed this problem my turning off VSYNC, Anisotropic Filtering, and Anti-aliasing.

Almost sounds like a stuffed codec - did you upgrade any codecs or WMP stuff recently ?

I system restored to 3 days ago. Clicking on WMV no longer causes my computer to freeze. FPS still drops a lot while recording.
