Hi Guys,

Just purchased a new compuer and need some help. Specs are as follows

AMD Quad Core Processor Athlon II X4 Processor 620 2.6GHzx4cores.
Graphic: NvidiaGeforce7050
2X2GB high quality DDR 800 Ram, Dual Channel memory architecture

I also brought the following screen

The 1st problem i have is i cannot set the monitor settings to 1920x1080, would this be because the onboard graphics dont support this resolution or maybe a simple driver update would fix this issue?

Also the 2nd question i have is im currently running 32Bit Vista on the above system. Would there be much advantage running 64Bit?

with 32bit you can only access 3.25gb of your ram, with 64bit you will be able to use all 4gb, thats about it.

The gfx card (onboard) most likely doesn't support that res, i also take it you are using VGA not DVI?

Sounds like i should be looking into 64Bit Windows 7 then

Correct only using VGA, as there is no DVI output.

Can you recommend a graphics card for around $150 to help the problem?

Its not the graphics card. quote from tech specs "The integrated video uses a GeForce 7 Dx 9.0C with Shader model 3.0. RAMDAC is 300MHz and supports up to resolution of 1920×1440@75Hz. The integrated video supports NVIDIA PureVideo HD H.264 video processing."
Windows 7 nativley finds the screen and installs the driver (i have the same screen). I would update your graphics driver to the latest.

and as above with the ram, you may as well only have 3gb in that system with 32bit

yea sorry, what garvani said about the gfx, i wasnt sure what the max of a bottom range 7 series could do :p if you do want a dedicated card, i would look no further than a 9600GT :P
