Hi there,

The "expires after option" is unavailable in outlook normal mode. However,
it's available in the safe mode.

I have tried disabling all the add-ins but still no luck.

I thought it could be one of the customization tool bars so I tried
reinstalled outlook but still no luck.

Environment : Win xp SP3  outlook  2003 SP3

any ideas?

cheers

Try deleting the extend.dat (%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook) Make a backup first.

This holds some of the configuration information for outlook.

Give that a go and see how it turns out.

I suspect that the option is only available under Exchange server - as you have no real control over your email once it leaves the confines of an exchange server. An end users mail server can choose what to do with the email as it pleases.

Are you connecting to an exchange server?

Thanks Jaymz . I will try it tomorrow

Yes, we are using exchange 2007. Firstly , I thought it could be GPO, but safe mode works so must be something else

Thanks guys
