I just signed up for the trail and did a backup right now, Kinda nice the data is stored in NZ as it was really fast to upload
Most problems are the result of previous solutions...
All comment's I make are my own personal opinion and do not in any way, shape or form reflect the views of current or former employers unless specifically stated
I tried Joining Backflip about 3 months back as it sounds like a great service for backups and getting access to files from other computers. The joining went fine but when I try and connect it does not know me even though I kept getting emails from Backflip asking when I am going to use it. For nearly three months I have been trying to contact Backflip by email (To all their email addresses) and their Forums but never get any response. In fact their "Helpdesk" has not been logged on since June this year and Adrian (One of the Administrators) has not visited the site since October last year. I have rung and Emailed Slingshot numerous times and they promise somebody will ring back but no one ever did... I was even asked to send a copy of all my emails to a staff member (Customer Care Team - CS Tier 2) who was going to get back to me with an answer... That was over three weeks ago!!! I rang her after two weeks and explained that the person who is the administrator on Backflip is high up in Slingshot/Callplus etc and surely it is just a quick phone call to find out what is happening... I am still waiting... The "customer Care" were not even aware it was a service offered by Slingshot!!! I had to explain where it could be found on their website!!! and this was after she had been investigating it for two weeks??? I am now not sure I would want to trust my backup to what appears to be a dysfunctional system.
Mine keeps breaking and then working again, Slowly getting things backed up due to low ADSL upstream speeds, and that I am adding to the collection faster than it backs up doesnt help :(
Only think that keeps me on it is the free traffic on slingshot. Once I get a VDSL connection so I can upload faster I might use the paidfor offpeak on the snap connection to use a backup provider that actually answers support queries.
