Hey there geeks,
So here's my predicament. I need a new phone, and have convinced myself that one of the Lumia models is the way to go.
However,.. do I buy at one of the stores listed here in the price compare section, or do I buy from an official source (such as a major chain store like Harvey Norman)
These parallel import companies are significantly cheaper,.. but my question is,.. at what cost in the long run (or even during initial setup)
Anything would appreciated

I strongly suggest buying a Lumia 720 though. Better cameras, battery, display, build quality, weight.

The advantage is basically the price, most online stores will require you to pay shipping and you may be liable for tax and levies depending on what you buy when it reaches the New Zealand border.

Expansys are cheap,.. there is no denying that, but I'm aiming at hitting some of the cheaper import stores while in Auckland next week. I'd kinda like to 'have a play' with one of these devices before commiting to one or the other.

The big question (over price), is will it work ok, and will I have to battle foreign firmware, and built in apps etc before I can actually start enjoying the phone?

There's some form of region free firmware (from what I understand), but,.. can I really be arsed with all that mucking around.

I'm leaning towards the 820, simply because it has a slightly lighter feel to it. The 920 has sharp corners, which simply does not feel right. That and the fact that a removable battery will come in handy some time in the future when it starts getting older

I got the 720 (in Yellow) from The Warehouse - I understand they are parallel imported from Aussie - but TWL have good warranty as well as Nokias own.

$499 down to $398.20 last week. No doubt with Mothers Day coming along...as said above...there will be more sales.

No issues with the manual or anything else in a foreign language either.

Haven't seen any mothers day bargains otherwize I would have bought my wife a Samsung ATIV S or L920..
