So the screen on my 920 is fairly broken, and is becoming less and less usable.  Was looking at new phone options, and since I personally really like the Windows Phone UI, was going to go along the same path.

Are there any testers/reviewers out there who have had their hands on a 930 yet?  Release date is now 1 July, but looking at price vs a 1020, Im tempted to just go for a 1020 now.

Any personal views about the 1020 that I should be aware of (upgrading from a 920 anyways)

man didnt realise price had come down so much.

I got one to review through geekzone - still my daily phone. I have the 8.1 preview on it which is a little bit flaky. Stock 8 is solid as a rock.

Image processing takes a few seconds, otherwise all good really like it - but get a case.

You looked at the 1520?

Wow, cant believe I have not had a look at the 1520.  Looks really good.  Reasonable price too -

Great suggestion!  Might have to go down for a wander to the shops at lunch and see if there is one around.  I think size would be the main factor.  See how big it feels in hand.

I'm also looking at the 1520 since spec wise it looks almost identical to the 930. Can imagine the 930 landing here for $1099 or so. Only thing is the 1520 is only available via parallel importers - not sure about how warranty would work. Has anyone had any experiences with warranty issues and parallel importers? My dealings with one a couple years back have left me a bit weary dealing with such shops.

The 1520 is definitely a beast of a device. It pretty much is the same as a 930 but in a more compact form. So if the 1520 is too much for you, wait for the 930. Another good option is the 925 which I saw on sale at Harvey Norman for 499 which I thought is a very good price for the device. It felt premium in my hand. It didnt have the same camera prowess as the 1020 though.

Personally, if I could wait till the 930 is out, id do that.

6" Phablet is the way forward for a productive phone/mini tablet in my humble opinion

Been my daily driver phone since Xmas and I would never go back to a 4-5" screen

As others have pointed out the 930 is pretty much the 1520 in a smaller device with metal casing

1520 owner here as well. Love it. First couple of days are off since the size of screen is BIG. I look at 5" or smaller phones now and find them small to look at. 1520 is also priced very competitively compared to Lumia 1520 in NZ via parallel importers.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Well, the size of the 1520 is wayyyy too much for me.  Don't think I can wait the extra month and excuse spending double the price of the 1520 for a 930.  May have to move back to android.  500 bucks for an LG G2 is very tempting -

Guts, I really enjoyed the Windows OS.

Any other decent options?

I was in the same situation as you but just with an iPhone that needed to be plugged in by lunchtime. I really liked the look of the 930 but didn't want to wait until July odd. In the end I found a 1520 and was really impressed by the weight in particular. It's big but doesn't feel too big to me.

If it was too big then I would likely have gone for the 1020. I know it's older hardware but it's pretty cheap now and I'm still pleasantly surprised by how good my wife's 920 feels running 8.1.
