I have bought an O2 xda2 from ebay and find it has been upgraded to mobile 5.
Problem is I have software that requires the earlier version.
How can I reflash back the old version. (ROM 1.72)
Any ideas ?

Have you tried the software on WM5? Relatively unusual to find software that hasnt at least been updated, let alone work out of the box with WM5.

What software is it, and what function does it perform for you? (Might be able to recommend a different title).

You might have a chance if you send it for repair and ask to be flashed with a specific version - if the repair shop knows what versions are available.

Otherwise you might have to look around for a download. But I am not sure these are available around for old versions...

It is a company software supplied by excel mamagement for use in a fleet of cars - essentially a network based on the mobile web.
It definitely does not work under mobile 5.
I have access to other XDAs running the correct OS and have managed to extract the OS from there using OSImagetool, but cannot make the xda load this.
When I try bootloader It does nothing - I suspect because the mobile 5 version is different.
Yes I could send it to the repairers to have it done (they say maybe) but they want to charge £80 for the priviledge.
