Hi there, me again. I'm champing at the bit to customize my Titan, but I'm concerned. I'm waiting to hear from the place I brought it, if I can whack a 8GB SD card in it. They tell me I can put a 2GB, but bigger is better right?

Any one here have any clues as to if a *8GB will work?

Once I have my new SD card in it I will be able to customize it, I'm just scared (scared = uninformed) as to whether if I have downloaded programs and used them (ListPro/SPB weather etc) onto my current SD card whether I will have to start from scratch if I put a different SD card in. I'm guessing that Active Sync will help me out there...will find out soon I guess.

Anyhow...Any advice on the SD card would be great.

Good question... As a relatively new device it should work ok, but you never know.

Just FYI I am using a 8GB microSD on my HTC Touch Dual and used the same card on the Okta Touch...

Hi Mauricio,

Thanks for that. I was close to getting an OKTA but didn't fancy the keyboard options, so ended up with the Titan. I've had an Apache before (briefly as a work phone), so ended up going in that direction.

I just rang Flashcards (their website says 2GB max) and he said unless it is FAT32 compatible, I'll have to stick to the 2GB as it's FAT16. Not sure where to find this information. I've check the manual and sys information etc.

Sorry, off topic but, can you tell me what the difference between the Okta Touch and the HTC Touch is?

Small differences:

The HTC Touch is GSM/HSDPA while the Okta Touch is CDMA/EVDO.
Okta Touch comes with double of the memory
Okta Touch runs twice as fast a processor

Of course this is true for the other CDMA flavours around (mainly in the USA). But the HTC Touch Dual is now updated - but not widely avaialble yet.

It's not actually strictly to do with whether or not the device can support the FAT32 filesystem. Any flash card can be formatted with FAT32, however since the maximum partition size of FAT16 is 2GB, cards larger than 2GB must use FAT32 or take a serious capacity hit. It's a pretty easy choice, really. :p

Anyway, that's another discussion. The answer to your question is that yes Titan uses an SDHC USB controller, which means the theoretical limit to the size of the Transflash card it can take is 32GB. Whether or not it will actually support cards up to that size remains to be seen but for the time being 4GB, 6GB and 8GB cards have been reported to work fine.

As an aside, the Flashcards website is wrong in saying that the maximum supported card size is 2GB. HTC officially supports card capacities up to 4GB.
