I beleive club I-mate has the latest Rom/Firmware versions however I haven't registered to check (read on other forums)
Otherwise a repair agent would be able to upgrade the device

You can access the latest ROM available for your device on ftp://ftp.clubimate.com/. However make sure you install the correct ROM. You probably want the WWE - not the Arabic, and not th Telstra versions.

Also check the ROM numbers before downloading - and when installing it will tell you what is in your device and what is in the update. If what you see is not what you expect don't start the update - once started you can't interrupt without turning your device into an expensive brick.

Why do you need to update your jasjam firmware? AFAIK there is no update to jasjam firmware. (I also use a Jasjam)

The ROM versions on my Jasjam are:
ROM: 1.31.305.2
Radio: 1.20.31.10
ExtROM: 1.31.305.200

The version on imate FTP is:

JASJAM_wwe_1.31.305.2_1.31.305.104_1.21.31.10_ship.zip AND you will need to get Vodafone NZ's ExtROM, the one listed on FTP is: VDF_NZ_ExtROM_1.20.305.200.zip which is different from my factory Vodafone NZ version ExtROM.

I've just got to Club Imate device support page (after log in of course)

The one listed there via the device support page is:

https://www.clubimate.com/support/JASJAM/ROM/JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.104.zip

which is older than the one listed in my previous post.

As for Vodafone NZ's Operator Settings: https://www.clubimate.com/support/PPC_OP_Settings/NZ_Vodafone.CAB

which I think is generic across all WM devices.

Anyhow, I can see the Radio ROM is version in the FTP site (compare to the version on my Jasjam).

However no sign of WM6 Pro for Jasjam yet :-(

Oh... the WWE version from the Club Imate site is 7.8MB zip compare to FTP which is 53MB.

So, double check the version on your Jasjam with mine listed one above... and if you must update your firmware (for reason unknown to me)... do it at your own risk as you can very likely brick it if done wrongly.

You will need ActiveSync installed (on Windows XP) and on external power. There's no instruction on how to perform firmware upgrade to Jasjam from Windows Vista.

There's instruction manual: https://www.clubimate.com/support/JASJAM/MANUALS/How_to_install_a_CAB_file_or_upgrade_the_Operating_System_of_your_i-mate_JASJAM.pdf

this pda is also called htc hermes/tytn. htc manufactures them & imate rebrands them. if no imate update, goto www.htc.com, support, & register for club htc. login & input your imei/phone details & the wm6 upgrade is ready for you. i would say the rom would be generic, without vodafone customisation.

be careful cos firmware/rom upgrades will erase everything on your phone. backup with active sync etc before upgrading.

u can also goto forum.xda-developers.com to find custom/personal roms made by people.

hope that helps

btw, why the need for firmware update?

edit: do you have vista or xp? atm, no simple way of upgrading rom with vista

Please be adviced that you CANNOT register HTC Club with Imate IMEI. Due to customisation to the ROM done by ODM, even though HTC manufactured it and Imate rebrand it, it is still ultimately depend on Imate to provide the customisation made to their rebranded Jasjam.

And if you don't mind voiding the warranty support and Vodafone support, you can try out XDA's custom rom.

I too have been waiting for Imate's JasJam's WM6 ROM but I don't see it is critical enough to use custom rom to get it. I much rather have full official WM5 than unofficial and potentially unstable WM6.

hmm, that's a bit strange. htc do offer wm6 upgrades, but imate doesn't. didn't know that about imates not being able to register on club htc. what customisations are there on the imate/voda rom? most custom roms have programs that we'll never use anyway.

btw, voda asked him to update his rom, so he has to get either from imate or htc is the way i see it.

my dopod 818pro/htc prophet's warranty is way past, so i'm running a wm6.1 rom from xda-dev. very fast & stable.

anyway... just my 2c....

Do you really believe a CSR over the phone knows about "ROM update"? We don't know the whole story - did the CSR ask the OP for the current ROM, did they check something in store, how did they get to the conclusion it needs a new ROM?

Also, why would it need? What problem are they trying to fix?

OP, why did they suggest a new ROM? What's wrong on your device?
