Hi, I have just brought a second hand vodafone NZ N95 phone that has been de branded and have no idea what that means? Can I still use it as I would any other phone i.e vodafone live Wi-Fi e.t.c.

Can I Re Brand it? If so how?

Also heard something about a product code do I need to change that back to re brand it or will re branding do that, and where do I find the org product code and how do I put that back into the phone?

What happens if phone craps out and need to take it in to get fixed do I need to change the product code or anything?

I really don't know what to ask as not sure what de branding means, but I thank you for your time and information anyone as on this subject thanks.

Debranding means that the previous owner got rid of the (what most people would deem) annoying Vodafone branding in the operating system. Vodafone branding means the menus are in red and the icons are not the standard Symbian icons.

Debranded N95s in my opinion are better because you can do pretty much everything what a Vodafone branded N95 can do... and more. There are no restrictions. You can still access Vodafone Live! services.

Stick with the firmware (aka software aka operation system) you have now. It is better!

Thanks, um so just continue using it as any other phone? What about updates don't vodafone do those or do I have to now and if so how? Is that information on the disc that comes with the phone?

Can I still change that menu set ups(colours), screen savers also tones(music) for text messages etc?

I have wireless internet at home so does that mean that I can connected to the net for free? Is the N95 able to check emails?

Thanks alot this is the first time have upgraded to a phone that does more then texting and taking photo's.

And if any other useful information on the phone would be greatly appreciated.

Updates come from Nokia, not Vodafone. To get the latest firmware, go to Nokia.com and download the Software Updater.

Yes, sure can.

yes you can continue to use the phone like any other phone.

the updates for debranded phones are ahead of vodafone coz they always take ages to bring out updates for this firmware.

there should be two discs that came with the phone. one has the software you need to connect your phone to your computer and the other will be tonnes of different programs to install on your phone if you want.

you can still change everything on the phone that you want to. colours, themes, tones etc.

you should be able to connect to your wireless internet at home very easily, you'll just have to enter your security password for your wireless. if it doesn't work after that try manually configuring your ip settings.

if you look in this symbian phone section on this forum you will find atleast 20 different threads dedicated to the N95. everything you need to know for updating the firmware, using the GPS feature and suggestions for programs to install are all right here. i suggest before you post another question you search through the other threads as all the answers i just provided have been discussed in the others. enjoy your new phone!
