Hi, I've just joined the site, and am in desperate need of some help!

I have an iPAQ 3715 PDA, which I'm runnng TomTom Navigator on.
I've just purchased a G66 GlobalTop Touch GPS Unit and I cannot get TomTom to recognise it.

I can pair the PDA and GPS but the rest won't work.

The only Ports on offer are:---
COM3, Bluetooth Serial Port COM8, S2410 IRDA2410, S2410 COM4, Serial Cable on COM1, S2410 COM0 and Serial On USB.

The Touch Unit is not listed in the choice of GPS Systems either, I have been advised to show it as the "NMEA 0183v2 38400" option.

Can anyone please help, as I'm going mad with frustration?!

Once you pair the devices you have to create a COM port on your Pocket PC - on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition you create a connection and assign a port, on Windows Mobile 5 and newer you have a tab to create a serial port. Have you done this?

This is the first time I've managed a smile in days!!

Thanks so much for replying so quickly--- I'm a bit useless when it comes to my PDA, so could you please send me a link or instructions on how to do this?

I'm operating with Windows 2003, and can't find how to do this anywhere in my manual.

Also, which "GPS" device do I set it to in "TomTom Navigato" after I've done this, as it's not a named device?

And finally, the "Bluetooth" connection between my PDA and GPS Unit keeps breaking after a few minutes, is this because it hasn't found the GPS signal or have I missed something else I should've done!

Sorry, but I'm a bit new to all this stuff!!

Thanks again, really looking forward to any further help you can give--- I really want to use this thing....!!

I don't have a guide for Windows Mobile 2003 and serial connections, but look through this page (disregard the parts on a PC, you are only interested on the Pocket PC side) and you will see how to create a connection (replacing ActiveSync by Serial Port).

Hi, I managed to create the Bluetooth connection to my PDA, but one of my issues is that the connection breaks after a few minutes.

What I'm having a problem with is getting the PDA to connect to the GPS Unit in TomTom Navigator, as the Serial Ports and name of the GPS Unit do not match what I have got.

I still can't work out how to create the COM Port as you mentioned, as all the other versions of Windows which you sent the link for have a Tab which offer Devices or Connections, which I don't have, nor do I have the option of any "dropdowns" to click on.

I've also followed this link http://205.134.232.209/Semsons/Laptop%20Setup%20Instruction.pdf and it doesn't help either, as I can pair the two together, but can't get the GPS Unit to talk to the PDA to tell me where I am!!!!

Also, when I pair up the PDA and GPS, it offers "SPP" not "SPP Slave" as some of the links say--- does this matter, or is it the same thing?

Any ideas....?
