Does anyone know how to help on why Windows Outlook is crashing on send/ receive with the redirector service working (only after several hours)... i am using the latest of all products, RIM and MS XP etc
Outlook 2003 SP3 (11.8217.8202) XP Pro (Compaq R 4000 ) Ver 5.1.2600 SP 3
Yes, I understand that the desktop redirector may not be in great use overall, but my partner uses his with his desktop in exactly the same format (ie, to redirect the main body of a mail), and his has never crashed Outlook - this only happens after several messages have already been transmitted over a few hour period...and in the Send/ Receive cycle. Redirector still works. One additional diagnostic is that the last message sent from the handset and stored in 'sent' items in Outlook after rebooting, has no TIME/ DATE stamp at all... so this has to be deleted for the message list in sent items to display correctly. Its almost as if when you send a mail message from the handset, when the redirector software is trying to write this entry into the MS Outlook sent items 'database', that a conflict occurs with the Outlook code engine of some kind... does this make some more sense? many thanks indeed for the help... its been so frustrating as i dont really want the internet service because of so many mail accounts that i monitor in a day when out the office.... regards markus
Hey! THanks... Yes, have read through the whole BlackBerrry site and I seem to meet all the criterion required with my POP 3 accounts... as noted before, I have several POP 3 mail addresses which I am forwarding to the handset... and it works for several hours and then hangs up - in a send receive cycle... this is the best diagnostic I have... many thanks for the help
The BlackBerry Desktop Redirector requires an active Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) connection to a Microsoft Exchange mailbox in order to function correctly.
This is something you do not have with POP3, you are using POP3...
Why not just setup BIS and setup email polling? or email fwding from the POP3 accounts? If your a Vodafone user the link is here

Thanks... ok... lets see. BIS - internet service? email polling... do i need to install anything on a server anywhere? i note that this is my home machine and i do not have an exchange server at all, just the outlook interface with pop accounts..
when i install the internet service, it doesnt ask for anything, just removes the internet redictor icon (and app behind it of course), and when i use the desktop sofware, i cannot find how you would connect this to any mail account...
sorry about being so stupid here... but my service provider is not returning their help desk calls, and the local agent isnt either...
The desktop manager installs as Internet which gives you the ability to sync.
goto the website I linked in my previous post and register your blackberry device (if your on vodafone) by entering your pin and imei of your device (options / status).
then configure the web portal with your pop3 details so it knows how to get your emails.

Thank you. I am with MTN locally... will have to get a site from them... i will try this and give you feedback. Once again, your support is much appreciated. rgds m
