Hello everyone,

I need some help on getting internet access on my ipaq 1710.

This ipaq does not come with buetooth as standard (available via optional expansion card) so I am trying to connect to the internet using the GPRS connection available on my Sharp GX10i (not a bluetooth phone).

PHONE SETTINGS:

GPRS: Working fine for browsing on phone. In the internet settings it is set as profile 1 (vodafone live).

IrDA: Enabled

iPAQ 1710 SETTINGS:

I have tried many different settings but these are the ones I currently have in the phone.

CONNECTION NAME: Internet Connection

MODEM: Generic IrDA

NUMBER TO BE DIALLED: *99#

DIALLING RULES: Disabled

USERNAME: web

PASSWORD: web

DOMAIN: I've left this empty

ADVANCED SETTINGS

BAUD RATE: 115200

WAIT FOR DIAL TONE: Disabled

WAIT FOR CREDIT CARD: 0 Sec

EXTRA DIAL-STRING MODEM COMMANDS: +cgdcont=1,"ip","internet"

CANCEL IF NOT CONNECTED: 120 Sec

PORT SETTINGS tab: Defaults

TCP/IP tab: Defaults

SERVERS tab: Defaults

It tries to connect as the phone IrDA symbol on the screen starts flashing to show its upto something but it just fails.

If anyone can make a suggestion this would be very appreciated.
