I'm looking for an application that is free and will read my yahoo email via imap4 and alert me when i have an email and actually retrieve it for me.

The current email on the phone is pretty pants. I've got it connected to my GPRS via my network (O2) to connect get my email, the whole thing, and then stay connected for a little while so i can read and delete, my N95 used to do this but the N97 only has the option of "Headers Only" so it just tells me i have email and then disconnects making me RECONNECT to read the damn thing. Very annoying. Does anyone know of a reliable well respected email application i can download?

Many thanks :)

Have you used the new Nokia Email app? You can download it from here (https://email.nokia.com/) and works with most IMAP servers and has push email to your phone.

Yes i'm using it its dreadful. You can only select "Headers Only" and it disconnects instantly when telling me i have an email making me reconnect to read it.

Whats wrong with the default N97 email app?...that can be set to download email automaically and will do 'Msgs. & attachments' as well as 'Headers only'

Otherwise, to what I read, the #1 email app of choice for S60 if Profimail

I don't know what version of the app your running, or where in the setings you are looking (or not looking, but those options are available...

In the default N97 email app; Options - Email settings - Retrieval settings - Email retrieval, there is the following to choose from:
- Headers only
- Size limit
- Msgs. & attachments

If you select Msgs. & attachments, it will download everything
If you select Size limit, it will download as much as possible, up to your specified size limit

These options are available on both the default N97 email app, as well as the Nokia Messaging app, I have boh installed and have delved deep into the setings.

I've got the settings you mean on my Nokia N95 8GB but not on this N97. If i'm missing settings i'd very much appreciate it if someone who knows about Nokia phones would give me a little help to try and figure this out.

Have you tried mobile gmail app. Works well for me and can add multiple email accts. Goto m.google.com for the link. Work with touchscreen and I'm using it on my N97. Heard that there are problems with Nokia Messaging which has push email and I've also tried Emoze but have always gone back to gmail app. Didn't like Profimail. Gmail app is free.

Gmail doesn't work with my email address. It kept saying that the password and username do not match even though i typed it in a million times over and over again. To be honest if i can get the settings for the default email app that comes on the phone then it'd be great, but until then i cant use the thing at all.
