Hi, 1st time post. Just bought Unlocked HTC Hermes to connect to XT Network. Flashed a couple stock roms off internet. My question is: Is an extended rom necessary to connect to Telecom XT. Can you just install OS, delete cab files in extended rom after you ulock/unhide it & good to go. Or are there connection cabs (wizards) that get connection settings etc off the network for windows mobile. I thought I'ld just go into Telecom & try a sim in phone. I suppose that if there are Telecom Extended Roms around they are only for phones Telecom currently support/sell. Do Extended Roms address Hardware, OS or both issues. Can you do without them.

I too recently bought an unlocked Hermes and it works on 2 degrees fine.  Reads the xt sim but won't connect to the network.  The guy at the shop said it wasn't the right frequency a 2100 mhz vs 850mhz.  I'm pretty sure he's wrong and it has both can anyone offer help for this I really wanted to use this on xt.  Any help on how to do that would be appreciated.

The HTC Hermes won't connect to Telecom because it doesn't support 850MHz WCDMA. There is no way around it.
