Hello and welcome to Geekzone...

Memmaid should be safe to use - just don't delete anything on the Events tab, unless it is a duplicate. There are a few events that will fire up when you place your device in the cradle.

Have you done a soft reset yet?
Have you rebooted your computer since this problem appeared?
Are you connecting to a USB port or to a USB HUB?

Ok. In this case I suggest you do a hard reset. This will erase all content on your Pocket PC and refresh the OS to its original condition. You can then

  • Delete the Activesync Partnership on your PC (open ActiveSync, File | Delete Parnership) keeping the synchronisation folder
  • Change the Pocket PC name to be the same as before the hard reset
  • Crate a new partnership
  • Reinstall programs from ActiveSync Tools | Add/Remove.

All your PIM (email, contacts, calendar) will be restored automatically. Any files in My Documents on your Pocket PC will be restored if your follow these steps.
