I Found My Palm Treo In The Draw And Decided To Use It Again
So I Put My Vodafone Sim Card In It And It Said I Had No Signal So I Thought I Was The Sim
So I Put The Sim Into Another Phone And It Worked
The I Got MY Mums Sim Card And Put It In The Treo That Didnt Work Either
And Then I Was Like Hmmmm Ill Try My 2degrees Sim
And OMG It Worked

Why Aint My Vodafone Sim cards Not Working In My Treo
But When I Put A 2Degrees Sim Card In It Works

I Brought The Mobile From A Vodafone Retail Store
Here In New Zealand

i was playing around with my treo 750 and upgraded it to a beta windows mobile 6.5 firmware. after the upgrade it would take 5-10 minutes to get service with vodafone. telecomXT and 2degrees registered almost instantly. I'm not sure why I had so many issues specifically with vodafone - it returned to normal after i downgraded the firmware back to windows mobile 6.

(as 2degrees currenlty only has GSM signal and telecomXT only has 3G signal perhaps the problem was with vodafone having both 3G and GSM and the phone couldnt decide which to register with..... )

Perhaps the phone is going by default to the U.S. bands (850MHz) seeing it looks like these are not official ROMs.

In this case, open the phone application and manually select the Vodafone band.

I didn't say "manual selection" of network. I said "band selection". Open Phone, Tools, (or Options) and you will a "BAND" tab. There you can select AUTO or 900MHZ, etc. Select 900/1800 MHz 2G and 2100MHz 3G (or a combination) and see if you get Vodafone.

No one at Vodafone will help if you installed a non-official ROM on your device.

In my case that is likely to be true.  What was also true, was that the win 6.5 rom i was testing didnt have the band selection feature either!  It also didnt hang up calls via the red button which together with the slow sync made it too hard - a shame because it was the best rom i've had on my phone so far otherwise.

In the case of the OP it didnt sound likely that the ROM had been upgraded. Perhaps checking the band selection may be a good option.   I forget where it is in the Win Mobile 5.0 ROM - in 6.0 and 6.1 its under under Settings > Phone > Services > Band Selection

so, did you flash this to 6.5 before, or after you started having problems?
