Hey guys

So I have had this okta touch for a while and there are a few bugs that are really annoying me

Firstly, I had a problem that when the year ticked over to 2010 all my text messages were being sent from the future and were dated 2016. That was annoying. To fix this I had the messaging system set to look at my clock which worked perfectly.

Now my clock is wrong (stupid daylight savings)
I have downloaded the new windows update for the changes to daylight savings but nothing has changes. I can manually change the clock to go back one hour but when I turn it off it reverts to the wrong time
Anyone know how to fix this?

I also have a problem with the internet. If i plug the phone into the pc to sync with my outlook the net stops working when i unplug it. To fix this i must turn it off and then on again. Its really annoying and a complete waste of time. Any known fixes?

I also ahve a problem with the phone slowing down till you can barely use it. Has anyone else had performance issues?

Im not sure if there are fixes for any of these or whether the phone is out of date and I need to upgrade

Let me know if you can guys

Cheers

After applying the DST patch you have to change the timezone, then change it back. Only then the OS will recognise it. It's in the instructions for that download.

Performance issues will arise if you have low memory or too many applications running. Do you synchronise your emails? If so, are you getting ALL your emails or just a couple fo weeks?

Hey Matt,

I had the Touch and experienced some of the issues you mention.

The Windows update for DST was problematic.  In the end I stumbled (probably by fluke) on the right sequence and combination of installation, reboot phone, cursing, changing timezone to somewhere in Russia, uninstallation, re-installation.  Rebooting at the right point seemed to be important, as was the uninstallation of any previous DST updates.  Latest MS KB article number seems to be 977014 - is that the one you're using?

You don't specify whether the Internet stops working on the phone or the PC, so I'm assuming you mean the PC.  If so, then my guess is this is because the PC is trying to use the phone's cellular connection (Internet Sharing, aka tethering).  I found the quickest and dirtiest method of preventing this was to go into Device Manager on the PC, under Network Adapters and then selecting 'disable' on the phone item.  But there are other ways to do this, I'm sure.

I didn't have any speed issues, perhaps check what apps are running?

Finally, I have it on good authority that Telecom is about to release the HTC Touch 2 (Okta Touch is a re-badged HTC Touch) and if you like the Okta Touch, then you'll love the HTC Touch 2...

Hey guys

Im changing timezone as we speak and it has workied. Tahnk you so much for that.
I should have read the instructions. Im an idiot

The internet stops working on the phone when i unplug it from the computer. So i have it plugged into my pc to charge and sync. I unplug it and go to use the internet and it wont connect. It says its connected but its not.
Cant go onto facebook application, twitter application or on the net.

I dont have many apps running at once. It just slows right down. Highly annoying. If it wasnt for that I would love this phone

OK, in that case it isn't a tethering issue but an Internet pass-through problem with your ActiveSync.  Perhaps try checking your ActiveSync options and prevent your phone from accessing the Internet via ActiveSync when connected, and see if that has any impact.

Not sure about the speed thing, if you get no joy you could always use the avenue of last resort: backup your data and then do a hard reset.  Oh, and check your Outlook Calendar to make sure you don't have any corrupt calendar entries or strange recurring appointments, I've seen that kill a few Windows Mobile devices.

I will try change the settings on active sync to see if thats a probem. May be the case though

Im thinking a hard reset may do great things
However, how is the best way to back up messages and contacts? Just through active sync. Im not to fussed about the programs. I can always download them again now problems

Yip, if you have ActiveSync all working fine then that should take care of your calendar and emails.  Remember to write down your email account info and Internet connection details (passwords, logins, etc).

And don't forget your photos, music, notes, internet favourites, etc.  You can grab these using Windows Explorer on your PC when your phone is connected, it's pretty straightforward to find them all - the folder structure is just like Windows.

I cant see where to change my active sync details so that it wont try run the net from the PC. Any clues as to where these may be?
