Some things to check:

  • Does the Pocket PC have enough (storage) memory available?
  • Have you done a soft reset lately?
  • Are you running the latest ActiveSync 4.1?

    Somethings to consider:

  • Open Outlook, click Help | Detect & Repair;
  • Run the scanpst tool to fix possible problems with pst files.

Did not really find the problem went thro the complete hard reset and reinstall and it has cleared the problem.
Sounds like one of the files was corrupt
    Thanks for help anyway
I did the repair and fix in outlook did not make any difference and I was using 4.1 active sync must just have been unlucky when loading files

You guys should also upgrade to AcitveSync 4.1 if not done this already. I've found with one of my Microsoft MVP peers that the error code means "Element not found." Users reported it when ActiveSync 4.0 came out. It seems ActiveSync 4.1 resolved this since lately I have not seen it come up in the newsgroup.

One of the suggestions I received on this was to use Detect & Repair. If it doesn't work then move all calendar items to a new Calendar folder and check if it synchronises successfully with the (now) empty folder.

Then move back the appointments in small blocks until the error message is experienced again. That should help isolate the cause.

    Hi Everyone,

This calendar synchronization problem ( support code: 80070490 ) is a known issue with HP Support. It's seems that only HP Ipaq 2750 upgraded to WM 5.0 have this problem. Not all but some off theme. The problem is happening on both versions of Activesync 4.0 and 4.1.
We found out that resetting the 2750 after the WM 5.0 update is not going well on some machine’s. Then most people do a reset on the 2750 by pressing I-task and Calendar button together with the styles reset button. This is indeed a COLD reset, but NOT a CLEAN COLD reset like the machine shout do after upgrading to WM 5.0.
You only do a hard reset in WM 5.0 by pressing 3 key’s and the styles reset button together for four seconds. The buttons are:
    1 calendar
    2 messaging
    3 on/off
    4 Styles reset button

This worked for me, after this reset my 2750 synchronized all appointments, contacts and all the rest. Only when the appointments database is big (like more than one year) then the synchronisation will take up some time like 2 hours this is normal and a problem of activesync from Microsoft. After the first complete synchronisation it is better to synchronise by Bluetooth, this is faster and acceptable course only chances made are synchronizing.

Hope this will help some people with the same problem I experienced.

    Regards Henny

    p.s. Everyone thanks for helping!
