So...um...how many others here can call themselves old enough to have owned such retro hardware as a Commodore 64 or an Amiga 2000?  I can!  :P

I miss all the old games I used to play on these machines.  Amazing what you could do with 1MB of memory back then.  ;)

On the C64 I played games like Lazy Jones, Monty on the Run, Archon, Ghostbusters, etc.  As for the Amiga, I can remember having Sim City when it came out, hehe.

How about you?  :)

You will find many people here who will have had (and may still have) systems tht pre-date the C64 by quite a bit.

My first was a C64, I musta had about 300 floppy disks with that thing.

I also a acquired a Vic20 quite early on, but that was after I got the C64.

I remember reading in a computer magazine once about 300 baud modems, and how the C64 could be connected to another computer system remotely. I thought at the time that that sounded ridiculous, and why the heck would you want to do that. Of course I later went on to run a busy BBS!

The SEGA SC-3000 was my first!

I recall having the SR1000 tape deck and the games Orguss, Flicky and Champion Boxing.

I started with the Amstrad CPC 464

I remember the days fondly sitting there as a 10 year old waiting patiently for half an hour as the tape drive squeals away doing its thing.  Favourite games were Cauldron 2, wonderboy, cabal, and one called the wild bunch or something, a cowboy text adventure..  Too cool..

I started with a TRS 80. Not even a gaming machine, but yes had some games on it, loaded from the K7 tapes around or typed in from magazines. This was early 80s...

My first computer was a DREAM6800 then a Sega SC3000 which my parents sold at a garage sale many years ago (much to my disappointment) I knew I should have moved it.... Then Vic20, C64 and from there onto PC's. I have an old ZX81 floating around but not much else in old computers. Old PDA's is another story...

garvani: I started with the Amstrad CPC 464

I started with this one as well before going Amiga (loved Cabal!).  I used to love the way you'd almost get the game loaded and then something would crash - certainly set me up for future life (and could have been the birth of my cynicism)

I must be a little younger than you folk, my first machine was a Haminex cartridge loader, nearly the size of a 'lux heh but it had pong with 2 joysticks! First real machine was an Amstrad PC 386SX25 640k, Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards was my first game, oh that title music was great. (lugh: do you play AA 2.5 or 2.8?)

Gotta love those rubber keys!

And the bright yellow reset button - every modern day keyboard should have one.

Well my parents bought me a commodore 16!!!!...yep 16kb of memory..(probably about 8 usable!!) it came out after the 64 and was a bit of an evolutionary dead end (along with its cousin the commodore +4). Came with about 3 games, and had to order tape games from overseas and even then iI only ended up with about 5 in the end!! Eventually got a C64 when i was about 12..by then every one had amigas and started gettign PCs..so i was always on the back foot (bitter, me?...never!). Any way the c16it tought me how to prog. basic anyway...had to make my own games!!.

If you really want some nostalgia download a comodore 64 emulator and fire up some of the games...you will feel like a kid again....ghosts n' ghouls, test drive (oh the music!..and it talked!!)

big sigh
