Hi my first post I think. Have a PS3 but would like ps4. My concern is that the size of system and gaming updates seem very large in comparison to PS3. I live rurally and currently have 10gb plan with I think 2 Mbps download speed on wireless plan vis now nz. I wonder if those with more knowledge than I can suggest whether I should flag upgrading to ps4 given my circumstances. Or are there ways to download these updates given my speed limitations. I'm told that cod advanced warfare has map packs that can be 10gb download!! This would take forever, surely there must be other ways to get these updates? Any help suggestions would be appreciated, many thanks indeed.

I believe that system updates can be downloaded separately and installed via USB, but I don't know about game updates.

I see PS3 and PS4 updates pass over the nework almost daily.

When i catch them and get curious as to how long the lines gonna be pegged for, i tend to check filesizes.

Quite often Full games are Multiple 4.5GB files, Patches are Almost always over 1GB and software updates come in the 200~800MB range.

going through squid logs picking out a recent game, mortal kombat. seen a few 1.1GB patches pass through few days after each other.

Ild say your best bet is to simply manage your updates as best you can, but with only 10GB you will be pushing it.

I would say your internet is not suitable to operate a modern console on and you should look at upgrading to an unlimited plan. You never know when the updates will be coming out and you dont want to have to avoid using a game for weeks waiting for your cap to roll over again.

I'm a casual gamer who plays a bit of Destiny, and also has been playing a bit of Dark Souls II. With game updates alone this month has come to 11GiB, if we include PSN Plus games it exceeds 40GiB+ this month.

I would highly recommend against getting a console on this type of connection.
