I decided I wanted to try Forza Horizon 3. I opened the MS Store on my computer. Saw that it was $79 for Deluxe edition, decided it was ok value compared to standard edition and proceeded to purchase.

1) It won't accept my credit card, nor Paypal.

2) I decide I will just buy Gift Cards and work it that way. I go to the MS Website and order 4 x $25 Gift Cards. All goes well.

3) Try to use gift cards with purchase it gives me a not suitable currency error.

4) I realize my PC is in the US Region. Change it to NZ Region, game is now $129! (Yes I know what happened that caused the price difference).

5) Deciding I am NOT happy to spend $129 on Forza 3 I get into a chat which lasts an HOUR with customer care who are entirely unsympathetic, and in fact bordering on rude. Gift Cards are Non-Refundable even when not redeemed, NO exceptions. I explain the situation again, and ask for a supervisor, she is even worse. Refuses

to escalate, or refer me elsewhere to take my matter up. The issue is that the Store only denotes the currency on NON US accounts.

6) I decide that despite being very annoyed at the distinct lack of customer service, I'll buy the game anyway since going on previous attempts with MS to get these things resolved, it might take weeks or months, so I go and buy the game.

7) Only positive so far, it will allow me to use my giftcards for $100 and CC for the remainder.

8) It starts to download 48GB of data, but now nothing on my network is working to the internet, and the game is downloading very slowly. If I pause the download, my network devices works to the internet fine. I have a 70Mbps VDSL connection and mostly hard wired devices. It takes about 6 hours to download.

9) This morning it has a prompt saying which disk would you like to install to, I select a drive, and it STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN.

If this was a steam game it would have downloaded so much faster, no nonsense about currency issues, and no issue if I wanted to return a gift card.

About the only positive thing I can say about my experience so far, is that for the money I paid, I will have access to the game on Xbox AND W10.

I don't think I've ever had a positive experience with the store, it's half ass and drives me crazy.

I've gone from really looking forward to this game, to wishing I had ignored the Hype.

I want to digital download this game for my Xbox, but the digital price in New Zealand is insane compared to the retail disc.
However, there are some workarounds I am going to try to get it a bit cheaper ($30-40 cheaper) ... once I have played more FH2 (only just got the Xbox)

I had a similar problem, but and found that my store regional settings were US, even though I am had my xbox region was Pacific.  I only found this when I was using W10.

I know it is a little late, but to speed up downloads on XONE.  Do a full reboot/restart of the via the GUI.

Speeds went from 10Mb to 40-50Mb down.

Regards

Forza horizon 3 is a PlayAnywhere game isn't it, if it is the digital download?

Yes. Be warned however, that it's as buggy as anything.

People are SCREAMING about the poor frame rates.  I have a pretty powerful machines, I am lucky to get 30fps. MS are apparently addressing the issue (Surely someone tested it before it went out????)

It really amazes me that in 2016 software can leave with such obvious flaws.

Have a XBO for this wouldn't dream of trying to play this on my PC.  When they iron the bugs out I will install it on PC.  Runs flawlessly on XBO, thanks for the heads up.

Cheers
