I am considering purchasing one of the gen 2 devices. Wondering if anyone else has them here and what they think of them?

Move controllers seem to be non existent!

Also I see that Sony's own website says they are discontinued, but I am guessing that's Gen 1, and I am wondering why Gen 2 aren't there? Would it be a mistake, is PSVR dying

I suspect there'll be new ones this year. Have you used VR before? For me, the screen door effect is a dealbreaker at the moment so I won't be getting another VR system until that's dealt with with higher DPI displays. Don't expect what you see on the ads or on the tv screen to match what you see on the headset. It's going to be much more like an old-school CRT if you're sitting up close :)

I love mine. Yes the screen door effect is there, but once you get fully immersed in a game I have no problem looking past it. Playing a platformer like Astrobot or anti-gravity sim like Wipeout in VR makes it very hard to go back to non VR gaming. There are some poor implementations of VR gaming so be careful to read the reviews before investing in any particular game.

I have used VR a bit. I have it with my galaxy phones, and I have tried the various platforms before, though the PSVR was a while ago so I can't quite recall the experience. Recently I tried the Vive Pro at TechExpo and thought it was a very good experience.

Yes, screendoor effect is a problem but less so once you are into the experience IMO.

I am more worried that it's being 'deprioritized" by Sony, given there are no controllers to be found anywhere and they don't seem to have the current version.

I could purchase the HTC Vive, though it's a big jump in price.

Even Amazon don't have any controllers. I might call Sony tomorrow and see what's going on.

Not sure if they're lowering the priority. There's rumours of new hardware this year and there's TONS of games coming out and announced for the next little while. Possibly they've found more people are just using the headset with a normal controller? PS4 accessories are bit hit and miss with availability. I recently got a USB dongle for wireless PS4 Remote Play on my Surface, but I had to get that dongle on Amazon, there were no official Sony stockists anywhere to be found.

I picked up a couple of move controllers from here last year, I don't recall who from. I don't use them often Superhot VR was the last game that required the controllers that I've played.

I got my Moves from EB, have you checked with them? I also got my Aim controller from EB. It's good to have both, some games give a better feeling of immersion when you have two hands to use, other games really feel great with the Aim, such as Borderlands2.

Sony have now announced the ongoing support for the VR gear on the next console, and sales are definitely looking promising enough for the game creators to keep putting out VR games.

I have read about a video driver you can use on your PC that lets you use the PSVR, relying on just it's motion sensors so you don't need the cameras, haven't tried this yet but it could be a bonus reason for getting a PSVR if you also do a lot of PC gaming. This is used with your PC interface devices, not the PS controllers, of course.

Yeah I got my system the night before I went to Australia for 2 weeks, then got back, was crazy busy at work, then got sick, then had an operation that prevented me from moving too much more than simple walking so I haven't actually had more than a 30 minute play time the night before my trip to Australia. Took quite a lot of setting up and there is a lot of gear. I did manage to get the move controllers. Turns out most people are stating no stock but had plenty.

Hopefully by this coming weekend I'll have a chance to play. properly.
