Has anyone gotten the Quest 2 parental supervision working?

I understand from the various support & FAQs that the teen is meant to send an invite to the parent via the Oculus app - but the option to send this isn't even visible for my son...we both have full Meta/FB accounts and Oculus accounts, fully synced. I am totally out of ideas and FB Support are useless and keep sending me to the same FAQs.
