Hi everyone. I just bought a PS3 console and Red Dead Redemption because I want to play online but when in Multiplayer, whether its Free Roam, or Game types I cannot find any other players. I have done some researching on Google and found that this problem usually occurs for people with "Nat 3" but my PS3 says it has Nat 2. I've tried emailing rdr support but haven't got far as of yet. Any ideas?

I play once in a blue moon online and usually find a few others running around without a problem. Add me if you want... DemiseNZ

Login to your router/modem admin ui and give the ps3 a static ip address then add that address to the dmz.

See if that works, if it does you know it's a problem with your router's firewall or port forwarding, what modem/router do you have?

Hi thanks for the reply. I've forwarded all the ports for RDR as well as the PSN network, given my PS3 a Static IP and put it in a DMZ, but no luck, apart from a brief test just before where I found 2 people, then none, none, then 8 people, but then got disconnected saying "you were disconnected due to connection issues with other players". Oh btw my router is a Dynalink RTA1025W.

Try removing the port forwarding and just leave the ps3 on static ip address in the dmz.

What ISP are you with?

I'm with Slingshot. I'm not sure what the name of the plan I'm on is called but I get 15Gig data cap a month at full download and 128kbs or something of upload. I'll try removing the portforwarding when I get home from work, but I have a feeling I've tried it like that already. Thanks

Not playing it at all... got other preferences for games first ;) Mainly GT5...... holding onto my pennies for that.

Havent actually touched the PS3 much lately, been busy with other things.

Ahwell.. I'll be getting GT5 as well, clearly it's going to be the best driving game of all time!

I'll have to give you a race when it comes out! I know what my car of choice is going to be ;)

Have you considered the possibility that the actual issue is just a lack of local (AU & NZ) Red Dead Redemption players?

Xbox has much greater market share and many locals would have purchased the game on that platform and not on PS3.

I have never had problems finding servers or other players in RDR on my PS3. It is unlikely that your problems are anything to do with you choosing a PS3. Don't listen to Xbox fanboys.Wink

Please post a link to the stats showing RDR's marketshare in NZ (Xbox vs PS3).

I know for a fact its not down to a lack of NZ players, because I had RDR on Xbox up until recently and there is always heaps of players

I don't believe the game is cross platform, so PS3 RDR players can only play with other PS3 RDR players.

Number of people playing RDR on Xbox is irrelevant.

I was suggesting a lack of local players as a possibility because it can and does happen from time to time.

However if other PS3 RDR players are saying finding games/players is no problem then it's probably worth looking at the ISP as the issue.

I don't think the modem/router will be the issue if the PS3 has a static ip address and is in the dmz.
