Hey guys. I posted a topic about me not being able to find other players in Red Dead Redemption on PS3 and I think I'll try buying a new router to try fix the problem. Which leads to my question; which router/modem do you guys think is the best for PS3 use, and in particular for Rockstar games like RDR?

I use a 3Com Officeconnect...no probs here with the PS3. But 3Com stuff is a bit pricey these days....

That's not the one that Telecom supply is it? If it is they are truly terrible.

Go for a Linksys IMO.

I think that is the Telecom one - cheap to find on trademe but not great - just search geekzone.

Linksys modems aren't great in NZ as they dont have a broadcom chipset, thus struggle to reach full adsl2+ speeds (going from a linksys to a dynalink doubled my sync rate).

Business grade ones like 3com, zyxel, draytek, cisco, etc are the best if you can get some cheap 2nd hand ones. Just make sure they support adsl2+

Edit: Just found your other thread re: PS3 RDR, I would suggest looking at the firewall settings on your dynalink before you jump to any conclusions. Dynalink have been reliable and flexible in my experience so I seriously doubt the router is the problem
