Hi all
I have an acer aspire x1301 with a radeon 5800 series graphics card(not great I know) with a 23" monitor. My question is, can I connect my xbox 360 to the pc to play thought the monitor and if so how?
I have a hdmi socket on both the pc and monitor. I can connect the 360 via hdmi direct to the monitor for a brilliant display but have no way of sound as the monitor has no speakers(which are connected to the cpu) If I connect the hdmi into the cpu, nothing happens which is telling me this may be output only???
Can anyone help please?

connect xbox to monitor by using hdmi-hdmi cable. or a hdmi-dvi cable
all available off trademe. cost me $5

for the music, get a set of speakers, i use logitech x530 ($99)
connect the rca plugs into the xbox , then into the speakers adaptor box
done.

note: must smash off plastic case on other end of rca plugs or else hdmi wont fit into the back of your xbox

That shouldn't be necessary. My Xbox included an "Audio Adapter" that enables RCA, Toslink and HDMI to all be connected at the same time. I have an Elite, and it's not shown as one of the "Elite features" on the box, but it may however still be an optional component for the non-Elite models.

Yea as far as I know it was only the older elites that had the extra audio dongle. I don't think the new elites have that along with not having the hdmi cable.

The audio dongle should be cheap on trade me though. Or just buy one of the new 250gb ones they have the optical on the back and the hdmi can be used with the rca's
