Hi

Can anyone help with with playing games online on my ps3?

I find that i seem to have a poor signal and can take ages to get playing online.
For example, Fifa 12, I'll search for an online game and just as someone else joins it can't connect.
Another game I have will see an available online session i could join, try to connect and then fail. Those games both give me signal bars that will start green but drop to red.

My ps2 has similar issues. With Battle Field 2, the QOS will often be less than 2 stars.

My dsl connection is an avg of 10Mbps and have a ping that hangs around 36ms on a good day, can sometimes be about 43ms. That's according to speedtest.net .

Are those ping times bad/good? What severs do PS3s use?

Any help or thoughts appreciated,

Those ping times are good. Do not think they are causing your issue and 10Mbps should also be fine. More importantly where are the servers you are connecting to?

those pings are top notch.

but with the games you are playing it depends on where the server/host is. If they are in NZ, then it should be fine. If they are in Ozzie, then still probably fine. But if you get connected to a server/host in the states (or worse yet, Europe) you might as well forget it for game where you need a fast reaction (BF2 for example).

I don't know what servers my ps3 would use, how would I find that out?

Alot of console games are using players as the hosts/servers so if it's a game that not many people play anymore then the chance of you connecting to someone in nz are slim. BF3 is a different story, all the ps3 servers seem to be in Australia or further away - never found a Nz server for that although there were plenty for the PC version.

Try mw3, if you still get bad pings/connections then it may be your connection.
