Are you using DSL or cable? Do you have a static IP or dynamic?

If you connect a computer directly to the modem does it work?

Is your Access Point using DHCP to grab an address? In this case it'll fail because your provider may be supplying only one IP per household.

Perhaps you have to manually configure an address (like 192.168.0.1) to it and configure the built-in DHCP server to hand addresses in this range? That's what I have on my BT300 AP here. For example:

cable modem (static ip) - router (192.168.2.46, with DHCP giving addresses from 1-45) - bluetooth AP (192.168.2.47, with DHCP giving addresses from 48 to 90).

I can connect my computers via wired network to the router, and my Pocket PCs and laptop to my AP.

That's what they say. Most of the times help desks say this... On the other hand you should check that your BT Access Point is working fine.

From one of your computer connect to the Access Point. Are you able to visit its configuration page? If you connect both computers are you able to ping one to the other?

If yes, then it is something between your BT Access Point and the broadband modem. Do you need a special MAC address? Do you need PPPoE? Does the BT Access Point act as a router and does it know PPPoE?
