Like the title says,

Been soldiering on with a Linksys WAG 160n for a few years now, and just not happy with it.

Crap range - 1 interior wall seems to block, tends to drop out wifi intermittenly for no good reason - does this across multiple devices so am confident it is the Linksys.

So what I am looking for is a DSL router / wifi access point that will hopefully reach all corners of our house - single level, 150 sqm. Ideally able to still give a stable connection through 2 or 3 interior stud walls.

ADSL, or do you want to consider VDSL as well?

The Netgear DGND series is quite nice. Dual-band wifi, USB sharing, ADSL and Ethernet WAN.

I will just add though, even in my small 140sqm, 3 bedroom house I have two WAP's. I use two Unifi's with the power turned down just a tad and get a nice average -65dBm throughout the entire house. A single AP just wasn't quite cutting it in some rooms.

Pick up something from here. Value option would be an engenius, and probably a ubiquiti for something a bit more premium. With an access point, then you simply connect it to your existing modem and give it a different Wifi network name,

Best option is to keep the SSID the same and choose a different channel from 1/6/11 so you can roam between the two.

I'd usually suggest this, but considering some devices seem to roam poorly and stick to the same AP as long as its in range (even if extremely weak), and that he's getting intermittent drop outs then i'd probably disable its wifi entirely.
