Hello.
i came across this website the other day when i was trying to configure my hp ipaq 2210 to connect to the computer and hopefully i can access the internet via bluetooth. but i was unseccessful. i was hoping someone would give me some advice to what to do.

the problem is:
the computer and the pocket pc (hp ipaq 2210) recognise that they each exist. but when i enter on the
PPC>Bluetooth Manager>NEW!>Connect>Explore a Bluetooth Device it sees the computer but only has the function of a little computer logo and a "P". thats it... when i tap and save that service, the icon for the logo is a grey gear and a yellow gear and a big question mark in the background. the main thing i want to do it to go on the internet via bluetooth, i dont care about the transfer of file and i dont care about the active sync stuff. the computer which i placed the bluetooth dongle is not the computer which i synchronise the ppc. i had the same problems when i placed the bluetooth dongle on the other comp. but i thought that i mite try it on this computer.. the results were the same, no connection and no use..

i am not sure whether it is the bluetooth dongle which is giving rise to these problems or is it that i need to setup or configure sumthign on the computer/s. both computers are on windows service pack 2 before i installed the bluetooth software. i have a Connectland Bluetooth dongle; on the box it says it supports file transer, dial-up networking, network access, fax, information excahange, spp, gap. it apparently uses widdcomm software. it's frequency band is 2.4 ~ 2.4835GHz FHSS, usb v1.1.

i would really appreciate the help.

Welcome to Geekzone... Are you using the Bluetooth software on your PC, and if so what software is this?

Thank you for the warm welcome freitasm.

the bluetooth software... the only thing i installed on the computer was a CD that came along with the bluetooth dongle, it says
"Bluetooth USB Adapter installation CD version 1.4.2.10" on the rim of the CD says dont copy and stuff, and "This software is authorised by WIDCOMM and is bundled with specified hardware."

is that the software thingy you are asking for? i'm sorry if it is wasnt what you are asking me, because i am still really new to this area of computers and wireless things.

when i go to Add/Remove Progams, the bluetooth software is called WIDCOMM Bluetooth software version 1.4.2.10, (same as noted earlier)
Please help me.
btw, my ppc is a HP iPaq 2210 with i think windows 2003. the bluetooth on it has always been fine.

It looks like it could be a misconfiguration. Perhaps the Bluetooth adapter is using the Windows drivers, not the Widcomm? Check our Bluetooth Guides for a tutorial on how to check this and change if needed.

Hi.

i went to the link that you gave me but i wasnt sure what i was to click on. and i used the keywords of what you asked in ur last post and i chose the topic called "

How to change the Bluetooth drivers from Windows XP SP2 to Widcomm

."
Inside it, the main issue was -

"If you install the WIDCOMM BTW 1.4.2.10 Bluetooth software on Windows XP SP2, you will get the following error as soon as you double click on the blue-red system tray icon:

"Your Bluetooth Software license does not include use with this Bluetooth Device" "

But this is not the case for me. When i double click the blue-red bluetooth icon in the system tray, i get a "BtWizard" message saying "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that you bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on."

Was this what you told me to look for? What is the next approach? May you please give me direct links to what i am supposed to look at to check or configure the computer's bluetooth? Thanks heaps

btw, when i double click on the the "my bluetooth places" icon, i get to the bluetooth devices and thats it. i dont have any other options. If i right click the "my bluetooth places" icon from the system tray, then i get the following

Add a Bluetooth Device
Show Bluetooth Devices
Send a file
Receive a file
Join a Personal Area Network
Open Bluetooth settings
Remove Bluetooth icon.

when i click, show bluetooth devices or bluetooth settings, i get the same window. it has four tabs: Devices, Options, Com Ports, Hardware.

according to the quoted link above, the blue-white bluetooth icon is windows, and the blue-red bluetooth icon is WIDCOMM. My issue is not the same as the posted one. Do i do the same as the post? (i.e. Device Manager>Bluetooth Radios>Blutonium BCM2035 2.4GHz Single Chip Transreceiver update driver to WIDCOMM ) and repeat for (Device Manager>Bluetooth Radios>Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator update driver to WIDCOMM)

Next, no, the icon is not there automatically. You have to open the Control Panel and check a box to make the icon show up.

There are instructions on how to use the Widcomm driver instead of the Windows one. One option is to install the Widcomm based software, reboot, then find the Bluetooth device in the Hardware Settings and manually change the driver. That should do it.

The checkbox to show the Bluetooth SP2 icon is the Control Panel, Bluetooth.

i DONT have a BLUETOOTH icon in the CONTROL PANEL, there is only Bluetooth devices which is the same as clicking on the blue-white bluetooth icon. and the other icon in the control panel is the Bluetooth configuration, which leads to the same result as the blue-red bluetooth icon - "i get a "BtWizard" message saying "Bluetooth device not found. Please verify that you bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on."
and how do i go to HARDWARE SETTINGS?

i truly appreciate this help.
